Ono Hawaiian BBQ will open a new location at the “Harbor & Peterson Shopping Center” in Costa Mesa, according to their website. This store will fill a void for Hawaiian plate lunches in this sector of Orange County, where currently the closest locations are in Santa Ana, Anaheim, Buena Park and La Habra.
No opening date has been announced as of press time. What Now Orange County has reached out to representatives for Ono Hawaiian BBQ regarding the Costa Mesa store, so we will update if we hear back.
Ono Hawaiian BBQ was founded by brothers Joshua and Joe Liang. Inspired by Hawaiian culture and its food, the Liangs opened the first restaurant in 2002 in Los Angeles. Now headquartered in Diamond Bar, California, Ono Hawaiian BBQ has expanded throughout California and Arizona with more than 95 corporate-owned locations.
The fast-casual restaurant chain specializes in plate lunches, made to order with fresh ingredients, marinades and sauces that are prepared in-house daily. From Hawaiian BBQ Chicken and Chicken Katsu, to Kalbi Short Ribs and Kalua Pork, Ono Hawaiian BBQ has meals that are sure to satisfy.
The chain also gives back to local communities, particularly in donating meals to major school districts to feed those in need. They also participate in the Round Up for Change campaign in partnering with various children’s nonprofits.
