“On Thursday, July 6, the city planning commission will be holding a public hearing on a request by Sabroso! Mexican Grill for a site plan and conditional use permit for the operation of a restaurant at 13091 Harbor Blvd. at the southwest corner with Garden Grove Blvd. in an existing 2,780-square foot pad. To be added is a 927-square-foot patio dining area,” writes The Tribune, adding that “The applicant is also seeking a new alcohol license.”

A representative of Sabroso did not immediately return What Now Orange County’s request for comment.

Sabroso currently operates in a space that’s less than a stone’s throw away, at 13129 Harbor Blvd. Since opening that location around a decade ago with his family, head chef Tito Munoz has earned the admiration of not only thousands of amateur food critics on Yelp but also celebrity chef and restaurateur Guy Fieri, who featured the concept on his hit TV show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

Sabroso’s secret is in its fresh ingredients and scratch kitchen, where everything is handmade daily down to the sauces and tortillas, as well as – in keeping with the theme of family values – recipes that have been passed down through the generations. The restaurant has a formidable menu for any Mexican food devotee, with appetizers, salads, soups, house specials, seafood specials, antojitos, breakfast, and a la carte items all making an appearance.
