Pita GR is expanding to Brea after opening its first location in Downey, Calif. four years ago.

The concept for Pita GR is a spin on the authentic pita sandwich shops that are found on every corner in Greece, said Konstantine “Dino” Marougas, CEO and founder of the restaurant.

“I call it authentically inspired Greek street food for the purpose that I do have a culinary background and I like putting my own touch to the food,” Marougas said. “You can have the authentic with the new school spin on Greek food.”

Other than pita sandwiches, the restaurant has food geared for individuals who want a quick meal and groups looking to share. Diners can try the side salads, which are paired with a homemade dip. Some of the plates come with basmati rice and a protein. There’s also traditional Greek-styled grilled meat and Greek potatoes for diners looking for family-styled meals.

Brea is the ideal location due to Marougas’ background in Fullerton, he said. The new location is about 200 square feet smaller than the first location.

“With the current climate of how people are dining, smaller footprints is going to be the way that Pita GR will be growing,” Marougas said. “I’m very excited about this. And you know this has been definitely a dream and passion of mine.”

The Brea location will open between January and February of 2023, he said.
