Fans of Tustin’s Gohan Sushi better get their last bites in before the space takes on a new identity. Coming soon to 13842 Newport Ave. near Old Town Tustin is a new Thai restaurant called Manaao. If you’ve been by recently, then you may have noticed a change of ownership sign in the window.

“From the founders of Chada Thai, we’re excited to bring you a new Thai dining experience in Tustin. We can’t wait to share the flavors of home with you, and we hope to introduce even more people to our delicious cuisine,” reads an announcement on Manaao’s Instagram profile. You may recognize Chada Thai, which has been serving Orange County authentic and healthy Thai food out of Garden Grove for more than 20 years.

In addition to fresh and delicious homestyle Thai recipes on the menu, we may also expect beers and/or wines available to drink. The business recently applied to take over Gohan Sushi’s ABC license this week.

Representatives for Manaao tell What Now Orange County that renovations will begin this fall, after Gohan Sushi serves its last dish at the end of September. They plan to open in January 2023. Until then, stay tuned to eatmanaao.com for any and all updates.
