But Gem Dining isn’t going away for good. Rather, the “progressive Southeast Asian” eatery is set to return in an all new space in 2024, Kei Concepts Co-Chief Executive Officer & Executive Chef Viet Nguyen said in the social media announcement.

Nguyen made the decision to close Gem Dining and reopen it elsewhere to make room for sister concept Nếp Café which has been operating inside Gem Dining since the pandemic.

Here’s the Gem Dining announcement in its entirety:

A new chapter is on the horizon 🌱. From the first warm smiles we exchanged to the countless cherished moments we shared, you’ve helped write the wonderful story that is Gem Dining. And, during a time of uncertainty, our space blossomed into a home for the beloved Nep Cafe, nourishing hearts with its vibrant brunch offerings and breathing life into our days.

Now, it’s time for Gem Dining to reimagine its narrative while giving Nep Cafe the space and freedom it rightfully deserves to flourish independently. It is a bittersweet pause, a moment of gratitude and anticipation as we dream up a Gem Dining that is reborn, reenergized, and richer in spirit.

We hold close the joyous laughter, the celebrations, and the love that filled this space as we carve out a path for a beautiful evolution. Together, we look forward to penning the next chapter, filled with warmth, innovation, and unforgettable moments.

See you soon, in a space reborn with fresh dreams and familiar smiles, as we embark on this promising new journey.

As we prepare to pause and dream anew, we invite you to celebrate the rich journey of Gem Dining until our last day of service on Sunday, September 24.
